Favorite Movies?

Just curious as to what everyone's favorite movies are.

For me I'd have to say...
Requiem for a Dream
The Matrix 1
2001: A Space Odyssey

Please no stuff like "Finding Nemo" if you can resist.

I thought "Requiem for a Dream" was very interesting. A movie that is similar in content is "Basketball Diaries" starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg (in their younger years).

Favorite movies:

Saving Private Ryan

Forrest Gump

(can't think of a third one for now, but I'll get back to you on that!)

I promise that third one won't star Tom Hanks.. !

1) Cruel Intentions
2) Mean Girls
3) Closer

Are there any movies that follow something like this:

Question the fate of humanity/mankind.

Leave the audience wondering or inciting new ideas.

Have figurative meanings that apply to history or ridicule society.

I have a feeling I watched one like this sometime in my life, but I can't put my finger on it. By the way, this might be 3rd on my list! :P

KRabble88, I suggest you watch a Charlie Kaufman film. I LOVE his stuff!! It breaks all boundaries. It's a shame though that these kinds of films are not very welcome in Hollywood.

By the way, I like a lot of Woody Allen's movies (especially his old ones). I can't recall any of the names right now, but the ones I've seen on TV we're all great!

Contact

Matrix

Beautiful mind

KRabble88. Pi, the matrix, a clockwork orange, 2001, reqiuem for a dream, pulp fiction are all those kind of movies. Your criteria is basically how I distinguish a good movie from a great movie.

I haven't seen a Woody Allen film yet, but I caught some glimpses of "Bananas" on TV a few weeks ago, and that work station/gym was brilliantly ludicrous. Poor Woody!

My favourite movie is JFK: it's thrilling, it's frightening, it's inspiring, and it's damn entertaining.

I also really like Adaptation and Peter Pan (the 2003 live action one).

In no order: Godfather (I and II), Saving Private Ryan, The Usual Suspects, Dr. Strangelove, Forrest Gump, Silence of the Lambs, and Independence Day.

Great movies for me need a couple of the following traits: personal memories (seeing with family/friends, etc.), slick characters, memorable lines, good aesthetics, personally entertaining, rewind-ability.

It seems like everyone is a Godfather fan. I need to check that out, as well as Scarface. I'm also wanting to watch Hotel Rwanda.

The Notebook, Princess Diaries, Pearl Harbor, Grease (hehe...your probably laughing)

Billy Elliot
Finding Neverland
Moulin Rouge!

A Time To Kill

As Good As It Gets

Million Dollar Baby
