When do these scores get reported to the schools of choice - we selected 2 free ones.
I know they say 6-8 weeks later but will we know WHEN the schools receive them?
My son did well so I am just unsure what our next step should be?
Sorry for my ignorance and thank you.

any thoughts?

By when did you know both your composite and writing score? For the two colleges you designated in your test application to automatically receive scores, the scores would have been sent by that date, and you should assume the colleges would have received them within a week of that date. There is no message that comes telling you they have been received.

My son found out online 2 weeks after taking the test… end of Feb.
I think it says on the ACT website that they report your scores 6-8 wks. later.
He did really well, I am surprised we havent heard from the two schools?
I will have him follow up, will that be appropriate?

What do you want to hear from them?

I did very well on the SAT and ACT as did my brothers. The colleges keep those scores for when you apply. One school (maybe, I’m not certain of this) added me to their recruiting mailing list after the tests. That’s pretty much it.

They don’t send you a special card congratulating you or roses to your doorstep. They don’t even send a confirmation saying that they’ve received your scores. The scores are just there so you don’t have to pay to send them in with your application.

If, before you took the test, your son filled in the bubble that okay’d them to send you mail from prospective colleges then your mail and e-mail may start to have lots of college recruiting letters. Other than that nothing should change.

If you want to start talking to the schools you can join their mailing lists. If you have questions for them that aren’t answered from their web-site you can call them up and talk to them.

not expecting roses… really unnecessary.

Maybe some recruiting materials like the other 500 schools that have sent him junk mail.
Never mind.

Just a follow up for anyone in a similar situation ( Great ACT score reported to Colleges automatically).
My DS received an email invite yesterday to a Special Campus program & tour & scholarship info for academically talented Juniors for May 12 - invite only and the result of his great ACT score.

This is what I was hoping for over a postcard in the mail. His test was Feb. 11 - so there was about a 2 month lag. Maybe this info will help someone else.
