FEBRUARY 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD

Thanks act for not giving the act back once more, fucking with me for two more days!!!

C: 29
E: 23 (Didn’t finish 1/3 of the questions)
M: 27
R: 32 (Didn’t finish around 10 questions)
S: 33
Writing: 8 (Combined: 23)

This is my first time taking the ACT, and I’m currently in 9th grade (I thought I’d just take it to get a feel for it). I didn’t have any preparation beforehand, which is why I didn’t think about guessing the last 1/3 of the English questions. I’m sort of mad at myself about that because English is my strong suit. Overall, I’m super happy about my score because honestly, I thought I was just going to get somewhere in the low 20s.

If any of you guys are able to, I would love some feedback. Thanks!

Your scores are good for not finishing all those questions. Do you think you were really accurate in reading on the ones you did finish or were you unsure of your answers?

when do essay scores come out? I got my score at the first possible time, so does that mean my essay should come asap?

Got my scores! It was my first time so I’m okay with my score because I can work with it but my math score is horrible and I’m a little shocked.

Writing: 8

On the writing score; what is considered ‘‘good?’’ I have done little research into it so I’m not aware of what is considered a good score.

I just had a quick question about the essay score: I got a 35 for the English section, but I got a 10 on the essay. Now, my Combined English/Writing score is a 33. My Composite Score before the essay was graded was a 35. Will it still be a 35 now? I’m a little confused on how this works lol

yes, your composite score will remain at 35 @leomessirox8. The essay does not affect the composite score. If you go to the ACT site it explains how the scores are determined.

First timer!

Anyone who had good success in English or reading (above 32) how did you study, or are you just naturally good. My English and reading is holding me down.

I got a 35 in English and a 33 in Reading, and I just did practice tests. Each test, my score would improve. For me, the best way to improve those sections is to simply keep practicing.

Does anyone know how I review my Score Report? I got an email saying it is available, but I don’t see where to click.

Ugh, 8 writing. I guess for not agreeing with my arguments, my hand cramping up constantly, and being really pressed for time that’s alright. Does the ACT essay actually matter…?

It’d be really nice if you could just use higher essay scores from previous tests…

@Legend1 just log on to your actstudent.org account and click view scores. It may not be available until 5:00 am Friday they are doing mantinence.

How much does writing affect admission to schools such as Berkeley, San Diego, Los Angeles, Davis, etc (UC). I am retaking my ACT in June (scored a 28 on my first one; with 8 as my writing score) so what should be my goal?

I still haven’t got my writing score. Has anyone gotten theirs like today or yesterday?

Has anyone else not gotten scores yet? In Southern California.

No essay score yet.

@bbemody On the ones I answered I was pretty confident.

I have not gotten score yet. Southern California, Los Angeles.Sigh…
