fed perkins loan disbursed for anyone yet?

yeah. im supposed to have $1000 of the fed perkins loans sent to my CARS but it hasnt happened yet and time's running out. anyone's sent to CARS already?

better question....

what sources have been sent to CARS already?

No perkins yet. Did you mail in the forms? Ive only had federal direct loan and cal grant sent. still waiting on the rest.

Yeah, I haven't either.

I did the MPN stuff online, and I took the quiz. I assume everything is good to go. I DID GET the Federal Perkins Loan paperwork mailed to my house, and I didn't do anything with it because I thought all the crap I did online afterwards covers all the paperwork.

Unless I am wrong...please let me know T_T

(I couldn't edit my original post).

Ok, I just found out the online MPN is for Direct Loan, not for Perkins. Is it too late to send in the forms now? It says they need to be returned 2 weeks before enrollment period...

Please help. If I can't, I am going to deny it and turn it into work study, if possible. Thanks in advance.

Just send it in. It will get there late, but it will get there. And my perkins loan paid to CARS today!!!

:/

I hope they don't deny my loans. I'd rather have that then work study right now.

I'm in the same boat you are in Toaster. I didn't send in my paperwork that I received in the mail because I thought I finished everything by doing the online process. Now I'm worried that everything is not in order. On Bearfacts, it says I'm not missing any financial aid documents. Should I send in the loan documents I received in the mail anyway?

Yes, send them. Bearfacts doesnt show those documents for some reason. You will eventually get your money, but it will be delayed, so you shouldnt worry about your loan getting denied.

Ok, thanks a lot adamboy87!

If Cal decides not to give it to me (or danascully312), we can always complain that bearfacts screwed us.

You dont apply for a perkins loan, therefore you cant be denied...all you have to do is sign a promissory note

When i said denied, i meant that they will not give you the money if you take a while to send in the paper work.

ah...are you sure you even have to send in paperwork...usually the college will credit your account and then like two weeks after school starts make you sign the note

Yeah you have to send it in. My perkins loan didnt pay until mid november last year cause it took me forever to send in the papers. If they give you the money first, you can just take it w/out paying it back. Thats why you sign the paperwork so you understand that you have to pay it back.

well its a loan from the school to you, and the kids who dont pay it back usually have to pay the 2k before they can start classes the next semester

idk, guess all schools do it differently
