Given my knowledge of this student’s family circumstances, I believe that providing the application fee would present a hardship. I have reviewed the suggested guidelines below, and I am eager for him/her to pursue this important educational opportunity and request your consideration of this request for an application fee waiver.

suggested Income guidelines:
Family income is at or below the inflation-adjusted budget standard, adjusted for inflation through August 2006.

Number in Family
Family Income
1 -----------------------------$29,860
2 -----------------------------$35,060
3 -----------------------------$39,560
4 -----------------------------$42,610
5 -----------------------------$45,960

Thanks a lot Abhi08544 I really appreciate it :)

I had one of those letters lying around, but I have to find it. If I do, I'll post it word for word for you (except for my social security number).

The following note from Cornell's app:

NOTE TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:
Waivers are not approved for reasons of currency exchange restrictions for U.S. dollars. If your country has strict currency exchange controls, you should arrange to have the application fee paid by a friend or relative residing outside your home country. This money should be in a form of a check, a draft, or an international money order drawn on a United States bank. Cash or coupons are not accepted

So they wont be waiving my app fee whatsoever?! Btw is Cornell need-blind?

Another thing is that I got an official letter from my school head:

Given my knowledge of this student’s family circumstances, I believe that providing the application fee would present a hardship. I have reviewed the suggested guidelines below, and I am eager for him/her to pursue this important educational opportunity and request your consideration of this request for an application fee waiver for Ajay Chahar.

I dont know why the damn clerk added my name in the end but is it fine?! Can I take my own print on a blank sheet and get the signature or does it need to be on the school letter head?

That note means that fee waivers are only approved if application fee presents a hardship and not in the case of Forex restrictions by your government(we do have Forex restrictions in India, but It won't matter until you send around 3k US$ abroad(not sure about the exact figure, something greater than 1k)). They would accept the fee wavier from you with no problems otherwise.

The letter you posted is perfectly fine (they would accept it even if it's not on letter head but really there's no point in getting it done again).

Cornell is need-blind in admissions, but they don't guarantee Fin aid to all admitted students. That means that they can accept you and then refuse you aid (they award full rides, but rarely).

Hope that helps

Thanks Abhi
