Hey, guys, I'm applying to a few colleges, and I really can't afford the applications, postage, sending SAT scores, transcripts. It's getting expensive. I'm afraid I'm probably not even going to afford prom :( Anyway, does anyone have codes/waivers they're willing to share/help me obtain from the following schools:

Thanks guys, this seriously means a lot to me. My parents and I can't afford to apply to these colleges. And I'm not really looking at applying to all of these, but getting any of these would help. I've called admissions for a lot of these schools but they're not really helping me much. What should I ask/tell them? thanks so much guys :)

NJIT has immediate decision days, where they waive your app fee...dk if they all passed yet though. try googling lol

btw, I didn't pay for my app fees either. Have your guidance counselor send them all a letter explaining your current financial situation. For most of those schools, I think they're laid-back enough to just give you approval for it over the phone :P

talk to your guidance counselor about collegeboard too. maybe something can be arranged

yeah i thought so too but parsons, pratt, and some other schools have been giving me a hard time. drexel put me on hold then hung up on me... i'll look into that njit thing, but all the research ive done on njit fee waivers turn out with nothing. thanks for the speedy reply :)

@xSteven: just noticed that i put that on the list. i already applied to that. thanks for the help!

Do you have free/ reduced lunch? You know you can take the SAT/ACT twice for free if you are qualified right? Collegeboard allows you do send 4 additonal reports for free as well. Go ask your counselor and see if you are qualified. Most schools accept SAT fee waivers.

yeah ive got these already, but the problem is that my gpa isnt very good, although my SAT score is very good, and I have strong volunteer and ec stuff. anyway, ive used them up but I really want to apply to these other schools if I can get them free. thanks :)

Hey, some schools are asking me to write letters and they'll waive my fee. What should these letters say? I cant really find a way to say these things without sounding semi-rude. The admissions officer told me to write a letter "requesting" a fee waiver. Thanks :)

thx ill have to look into it! :) anyway, how can i politely ask for a fee waiver in letter? need some suggestions cause the ways ive tried sound borderline rude or desperate. thanks!

CUNY only uses their own fee waiver (they do not take the college board or the NACAC fee waiver). If you attend a NYC school, see your GC for a fee waiver (at my h.s. the gcs each only received 4 CUNY fee waivers). However, if you you can apply for up to 6 schools for the one $65 fee (so it is a great deal).

Also check the schools on your list as not every school takes the NACAC fee waiver and some schools do not take fee waivers at all.

you cant afford stamps? Do you have a job. Don't tell me you dont have time after school on a single day to work maybe 5 hours to pay for your transcripts and stamps. I work over 20 hours a week on top of all my other ec's to pay for all my apps, my parents arent giving me squat.

miktau -- some people can't work for a variety of reasons, so don't jump to conclusions. i can't work (and earn taxable income) until i'm 18.. i wouldn't say i'm struggling to pay for stamps, etc. .. but it can add up. they made transcripts at my school free this year, thankfully.

OP -- not gonna lie, your post makes you sound a bit desperate. i'm sure there's people around you that can help if you really can't afford apps/etc. if you haven't applied to colleges yet, then you haven't used your CB app waivers, even if you took the SAT/AP/whatever. They're different. I think you get four waivers, but I can't remember. Really, though.. this is your future... it's one of the best things you can put money into, even if it is just apps/etc.

If you apply to CUNY, make sure that you check the box that you are applying to seek/college discovery.

You can apply for up to 4 schools on a SUNY fee waiver. If you meet the income guidelines, make sure you check box 31 that you are applying for EOP.

Some schools will waive your fee if you are applying through HEOP, contact the schools and ask.

Make sure you give your GC your SAT scores when you receive them from the college board. At some schools, your GC can sign and use the school seal on your college board report and the schools will accept the scores that way.
