Hello CC friends.. this week i went on a college tour to vist Vandy , emory , UNC chapel hill.
I'm in NC right know(using the hotel computer)..
So far all i can say is that i'm blow out...I was extremilly impressed with both Vandy and emory...very friendlly faculty, students , outstand facilities and great college towns(nashville, atlanta).
I spent 11/2 day im emory and just loved it.very nice place to spend 4 years, pretty girls , famous professors , top notch education, a lot of bling bling...the down side despite over 4 Bi endowement the financial aid for international student is a jocke ..they only offer scholarships and only for top students...the total cost would be 42.000 a year ...i'm not sure if any college in the world is worth that.My parents are willing to pay but my hart hurts everytime a say 40 grand..
Vanderbilt:the campus is prettier than emory's in my opinion, also more hot girls, also amazing professors and facilities, very friendlly stdent bodu i little snobby but ok.Also not good on financial aid for internationals.
My question is a 42.000 eschool really better then a 25.000 UNC..?Is it worth spending 40 grants on a university?Do i have another choice?remember that 40.000 dolar is 80.000 of my currency(Brazil).

Here's my 2 cents on the topic:

Unless your parents are very rich, paying $25,000 per year at UNC would be the best deal.

There is a car commercial on the radio here which says, "If it's not a good car, it's not a good deal." In other words, if the car is bad, it doesn't matter how little money you pay for it, it's still not a good deal. The same could be said of colleges--some are at a level that no matter how cheap they are you wouldn't want to go there.

So the trick is to find one that offers a lot of things you want, but the price is still reasonable. That's why the top public colleges are so difficult to get into--they offer an education and experience at least somewhat similar to the better private colleges, but the price is generally much less (unless you're getting lots of financial aid from the private schools). A lot of people would say places like Virginia, Michigan, UNC, William and Mary, and UCLA generally offer as much as the better private schools, and then gap between the publics and the top privates begins to widen a bit. (There is so much conflicting stuff about Berkeley on CC that I'm leaving it out of the discussion.) The good news is that even once you drop below those few super-elite publics, there are still a lot of wonderful colleges, even if they aren't as plush or exclusive as the top publics or privates. I'm talking about places like UCSD, Wisconsin, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Texas, Florida, Illinois, U of Washington, and Maryland. Even colleges like Indiana, Purdue, Colorado, Georgia, Miami University, Clemson, and Iowa have wonderful professors, pretty campuses, exciting sports teams, and a lot of the very top students from their states.

thank you TourGuide446!!I'm very disappointed with my counseler she gave me a wrong advice she told that i should apply to private universites and that they would give good financial aid. the thing is they do give good financial aid but mostly to american citzens. Now i have a bomb im my hands i built i list based on her advice and now i only have extremily expensive colleges.
here is my list:
USC
Northwestern
Syracuse
Vassar
emory vansy
santa clara
pittsburg
emory
vandy

I'm sorry guys if i'm boring i'm just desperate
I'm really running out of time so please i beg for help .i'm applying as international tranfer.
My new question is what well rounded universities 20 to 30K a year could i add to my list?Would it be wise to add UBC and Mcgill they are cheap?

Rice has good finacial aid pkg but I dont know if being Intl affects this. If you want small and personal William & Mary needs to be added. If you want large/social/sports/ Frat scene with above avg academics U of NC/VA/Michigan would be good options too.
