Feeling weird? March 10th?

when you say “messed up ssat”, how low is that?

Yesterday I saw a FedEx truck drive by and had a mini panic attack. ! I think waiting might be the worst part…

I’m having such a nervous panic attack! Letters are the first thing on my mind in the morning, and last thing at night. =( Time seems to pass so slowly!

@smiley The same thing happened to me today… I’m also recording when post comes and averaging the times. Obsessive much?

My maids always put new mails on the corner desk, and I always glance at it at any given moment, looking for huge envelopes…

Winter term finals are this week and next, but thank god we’re getting out for 3 weeks of Spring Break March 12! Plenty of time to simmer and let my whole grade figure out where they got in or not without drama and gossip. I set my countdown widget on my computer to March 10 at 4:30 (when my school will let boarders check their acceptances). These couple days we’ve been getting talks about how we shouldn’t ask each other results and to discourage day student parents from gossip by mouth and boarder parents from gossip by text. With my whole grade going to private secondary schools next year, tensions are high and nobody wants to talk about March 10th, even though the admissions counselors have said that although they know our results already but can’t tell us, that no one did not get into any of their schools.

they know already??

Yes… But they won’t tell us because they say its confidential.
The counselors meet with the admissions officers of all schools that received applicants from mine to “discuss” us. By the end of February they know the decisions, but not the FA results, which can change decisions, another reason they don’t tell us.

oh no 10char

I better go and find my counselor for my descion.

Dang… I feel so small and insignificant next to people like Alelu and MonochromeAddict. I mean, I come from some minuscule school in California, and you guys have maids and come from schools with admissions counselors and your friends are applying, too… I just feel like I have no chance next you guys, who have probably been ready for this your whole life. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing or trying to blame you for something, I guess I’m just saying that I’m sort of jealous. I hope you guys get into the schools of your choice!

konikamano, I guess that in some countries having a maid is more common than in others.
I truly feel what you’re talking about, koni. I’m soo pessimistic now.

@assign Yeah, MonochromeAddict is from Indonesia, right? My ex-uncle is from the part of the world, and he used to have maids growing up. I’m so envious XDDD

Yeah in countries like that you have maids. It’s just the way it is… When we move again It will be to a non-western country and I’ll probably have maids. I’m not rich in the US i go to a public school and look out for myself :P

Hopefully you will be in Boarding school by the BLueraven. :D

Hopefully  but I’ll still be spending my summers there. I don’t know what I’ll do on shorter breaks. Does anyone know what Int’l kids do/go over the shortish breaks (basically anything under 2 or 3 weeks)

They often go home with more local kids. Sometimes domestic kids, but who live really far away, do the same for the long weekends. Most (all?) schools remain open during the shorter breaks and you could stay at school. (and catch up on your reading  )

@ konikamano, assign, BlueRaven:
in several countries, it IS common to have maids.

@konikamano:
oh no, konikamano, don’t feel insignificant! :frowning: it’s not that I’ve been ready for this my whole life; I knew PEA and PA from my cousins. None of my school friends are applying, too. So, we are probably in the same boat. I feel insignificant against you, since your English is so dang perfect!

@neato: Thanks. I’m glad you appreciate the gravity of the reading situation ;)

Well Andover doesn’t let kids stay at school on breaks. They arrange local host families in case students can’t make it home.
I’d much rather go home on short breaks, even though it’s a long flight from school.
