Hey do the title says it all.... I got a 33 on the act and 35 on math. My sat math 2 was a 770. What are some good engineering schools based on these scores? Rice? THX!!!

What is your home state and uwGPA?

Gotta be more specific man…ECs and economic background and GPA numbers, etc
to kick around some names:

Carnegie Mellon
Georgia Tech
MIT…because MIT
Columbia school of Engineering
RPI
Northwestern
Stanford
Purdue
Cornell school of Engineering

University of Michigan

Cool. I am not sure what my unweighted gpa is. I have a all As except for one B in calculus AB. I however took BC at the top community college in the US (nova) and got an A. I am currently in multivariable calculus as a senior in high school. I have 3 other siblings one of which is in UVA engineering program. My dad makes 15ok but I that’s not much with four kids… I need some aid. And my extracurricular activities are extremely strong. I can post them if needed

I am top five percent of my class 10/269

Don’t forget UIUC, UMN, and WISC.
But still, just having ACT 33 does not guarantee to be admitted into any of these schools at all (particularly UIUC, UMich, NU, Cornell, Stanford, CMU, MIT, etc). Also, what is your intended major in engineering?

Not sure. I’m all over the place with ideas. Maybe eltrical? Do you have any ideas?

Do you think I have a shot a rice

So your uwGPA is around 3.95, that is around or slightly above average for most top engineering schools admission. ACT 33 should make you high match for UIUC and UMich (oos). Match for Purdue, GA-tech, UMN, and WISC. Low reach to reach for Ivies, MIT, Stanford, and other schools with that caliber.

Really I’m a match for GA Tech even being oos? Also what are my chances like for carnegie Mellon

Search which major you would most likely want (or top ones), and look for the ones that 1)have those majors and 2) seem to have great programs for that. I recommend UMN!

Since you feel you need some aid, and you’re in Virginia, you really need to take a look at Virginia Tech. In-state tuition, and several of it’s programs are ranked in the top 10 for undergrad engineering. At least as a financial safety.

Check out Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering. You’re stats line up well with it. And Duke is incredible. They also have very generous need based financial aid. I was talking to someone I know, and they told me they are in the 135k income bracket and only have to pay 15k per year at Duke.

Also considering your username I’m guessing you would enjoy the social life at Duke.

Rice, GA Tech, MIT, UIUC, Northwestern, maybe caltech?

If you require merit scholarships, forget schools like CMU and MIT. They only provide need-based Financial Aid.

Top privates don’t offer much merit aids as they don’t need to. VA Tech is a very good choice for you.
