Seems like he is trying to do the best he can creating a policy to adhere to a law to which he does not agree with.
^ Yes, I heard a news report on this and he does not like the idea of students carrying guns into the classroom. I don’t think that it is a good idea either. Kind of glad my kids are going elsewhere. Of course it’s sad that no school is completely safe, carrying guns or not. I saw a video a while back that had a simulation of what might happen if students had guns in the classroom and there was a shooter event. There were lots of errors that were committed and convinced me that this was a terrible idea.
Here’s a pretty good summary of why the majority of campus police, campus administrators, and students, across the country are against students carrying hidden loaded guns around on campus: http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/26/opinion/reindl-cocco-campus-no-guns/
With three kids so far having gone to college, and after hearing about all the late night 911 calls and issues created by alcohol and drug abuse and mental health problems, it’s easy to see why very few people within college or university systems believe that easy access to hidden loaded guns is a good idea.
If you want to send your student to a college campus that does not allow 21-year-old students to carry loaded guns, at this point, avoid Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin.
