Do you have to waive the right to see recommendations?
I one day want to see what my counselor wrote, and my teachers, so can I say no?
Or will saying no make you look bad in applications.
Or is the point of waiving it only for the benefit of your teachers and recommenders if they don't want you to ever see it?

Waiving a rec letter gives the rec more credibility because admission committees know that the rec writer had the freedom to assess the student as he/she saw fit. I know, everyone would love to see what was written about them, but it's something you just have to live with if you decide to waive (which would be the better thing to do). Depending on the relationship with the GC or teacher, sometimes they do show their students the recs after admittance.
