On the common app, it asks,

Please list the names and class years of grandparents who have attended the University of Pennsylvania.

So if none of my grandparents went, but the majority of my cousins did and one works there, where do i mention that?

I’m in the same situation… my regional rep said you don’t. only grandparents and parents count as legacy.

arr, i thought it would come in handy - guess nott.
it would have been impossible for my grandparents (culturally) to have been in the US for education O.o

thank you for giving me a heads up on this, i appreciate it!

I emailed my regional director and she said it was fine to include a list of relatives who attended Penn. I included it in the envelope I sent in with teacher recs and transcript. Although I have grandparents and a parent who attended Penn, I also wanted to mention my uncles. By definition, they are not counted as legacy so I am not sure if it will even do anything. But it deff will not hurt you if you include them in your application.

I will do what you did, thank you for your advice - when I create the list, what is an appropriate way for me to present it? How should I address the reader? Do i need to?

To be considered a legacy, do the parents/grandparents of an applicant have to have graduated from Penn or just attended? Thanks.

graduated I believe
