Filling out the Housing App

I’ve heard various things about the different dorm conditions at Dartmouth this year both on this board and when I was on campus. I wanted a comprehensive thread with recommendations about where someone who fits my profile might have both a fun and constructive year.

I’m looking for a dorming environment with a few specifications:

I’d prefer a dorm that’s all-freshman, so I can get to know my class better.

I’d like a dorm that’s a generally nice physical living space, both in terms of how big the rooms are, how neat the dorm is, and the bathroom-to-dorm ratio.

This is not a huge consideration, but if it’s a tiebreaker, I’d like a dorm that’s a little bit closer to the center of campus (which i’m assuming is the green)

The other things to keep in mind are that I am NOT looking for substance-free housing and under no circumstances do I want to live in a single. Living in a 1-room double is kind of low on my list too, but I’d be ok with it if I had to. My top choices would be either doubles or triples with enough space. I’m not sure exactly what Dartmouth offers, but something along the lines of a two-room double, a two-room triple, or a three-room double (which might be way too much to wish for) would be really nice.

Thanks for any help.

there are a lot of three-room doubles in the river, but they are most certainly not near the center of campus. i didnt think the walk was too bad this year, it just means you can't pop back to pick up a notebook between classes.

bump... can i get some help?

The Choates and the River are the only two all-freshman housing communities. Both are fairly clean and nice (the Choates were renovated a few years ago) but far from the center of campus. The Riber however, is further away.

The McLaughlin and Tuck Mall clusters are brand new so they'll be beautiful but mixed class.

Either way- it doesn't matter because you can't request specific dorms.

If you have not already filled out the housing app, you can totally request a place and see what happens....BE BOLD....

WRITE WHAT YOU WANT ALLL OVER THE HOUSING APP...I know a couple of ppl who did that... but you '10s are getting a pretty good deal neway.
