I am an international student applying to the University of Chicago as part of the Early Decision round. I will be applying for financial aid.
From UChicago’s website:
" The International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA) should be FILLED OUT AND SUBMITTED ONLINE, through a student’s UChicago Account. You can preview a PDF of the ISFAA before you start your application and create a UChicago account, but should apply using the DIGITAL version. "
Does this mean there is an online form for the IFSAA? All I could find is the PDF version for the IFSAA, and I don’t know if I should print it, fill it, and then scan it back or if there’s an actual digital version. I can’t find an online form for the ISFAA on my UChicago account let alone online. What should I do?
I am the sure the answer is going to be super obvious but I am really confused right now, and I’d appreciate some help.
Presumably, you need to fill out the PDF (either by scanning it in or digitally) and upload the document as an additional document on the admissions portal.
The ISFAA is a CollegeBoard form. You will most likely need to set up the appropriate CollegeBoard account in order to access the online version. That’s how it works for the CSS financial aid form that US citizens often have to complete when applying for aid at elite colleges. Check the College Board website to make sure.
There will probably be a fee as well if you submit via College Board. You might call Uchicago and get specific instructions. For instance if you submit via College Board is it then necessary to submit via your UChicago account? Or do they want you to complete the form online and submit that, then send a digital version to UChicago via your UChicago account? If the latter, then be sure to specify the correct form when you upload (they provide a long list of forms and yours will be in there somewhere). They may also require additional documentation such as tax returns, etc.
For anyone who is applying to UChicago in subsequent rounds and is curious about how to fill out the ISFAA, it is a digital form on your UChicago account. It “unlocks” on your UChicago account right after you submit your supplemental essays. You can use the PDF version as a template to gather data in advance, but no need to fill it out or scan it.
I don’t see a form for the ISFAA anywhere on my UChicago account even though I submitted all the required material including the supplemental essays… Can you help me out?
@morusa you really need to e-mail the UChicago international admissions team (internationaladmissions@uchicago.edu) to get specific instructions so you can get this part of your application completed on time. It’s been nearly two months since your original post.
You are right, there was a form but for some reason, it didn’t show on my UChicago account until I emailed my regional counselor. I filed the form, but I hope I am not going to be affected adversely because I submitted the actual form so late. How could I know if it never showed up on my account?
Thank you for your help!!
Hi,
Is it necessary to list all colleges you are applying to on the IFSAA form? I am also applying for Financial aid to Dartmouth via IFSAA and the instructions of the section say “List below the names of the colleges and universities
to which you are applying”. What do i do?
Thanks in advance! @morusa@JBStillFlying@blaze077
Thank you!!
