how good is the Vancouver Film School?

ooh. haha, nothing in my pm box yet.

Is there any film school that offers a degree in film with an acting emphasis?

new school university in NYC

I thought that was just a graduate school.

For one of the best film schools ouside of the US go to http://www.amu.cz/?r_id=610. It's the English version of the website for FAMU, FILM AND TV SCHOOL OF THE ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS IN PRAGUE. They have an English language program for non-Czech speakers, which is just about everyone in the world.

Does anyone have insight into it? Good, bad, indifferent. Worth the money or not? It is a co-op school so what happens is that you essentiall trade in your summers for 6 months of continuious work experience in the field. Sounds good but has that actually been fruitful? Any testimonies out there?

There are plently for it's engineering program, which the school in known for, BUT what about the screenwriting program?

Any screenwriting schoarships out there?

thanks in advance for any insight!!!!!

scribesmom-
I think this site has just what you're looking for - it's the L.O.A.F.S guide to film schools - really valuable to me in assessing what I was looking for in a film school. It has opinions on a vast array of film schools from students who have attended or are currently attending the schools. I believe this page contains 2 reviews on Drexel:

Good Luck!

question people:
can someone give a better explanation of the wonderous creative portfolios that most film school require? Examples would be nice. pm me if you would like or you can just respond here.

oh and about NYU. I never really wanted to go there because I heard you can't really do anything outside of the tisch school. However, i talked to a couple grads who were my TA's at NYFA and they said that what I heard was complete bs. Does anyone have any insight on how much of a liberal arts education you can get at NYU if you are in the film program? could I still learn another language? Could I double major (or minor) outside of Tisch?
thanks a bunch

How much more lenient are film (or other fine art) departments than other more "academic" departments in accepting GPA Wise? Is GPA still a big deal in getting accepted or is acceptance more portfolio based?

And yet another question...I'm really interested in video editing but not so much in doing the actual directing, shooting, writing, etc although I'd like to study that and would do it if neccessary. I'm also interested in exploring other things, like psychology, philosophy, etc and so I don't want to only do film. Is there a college out there with a film program that would still allow me to take editing classes? I've done some practice with it on my own and enjoy but I haven't really made anything with it so I'm not sure if I could accepted anywhere (im a senior now). I'm not looking for an awesome film school like nyu or usc, just one where I could learn the skills of the craft and learn more about films, music videos, commercials, etc. Anyone know of any oppurtunities in editing?
