I did receive my fin aid package from UCI and with grants, loans, work study I am expected to get a little over $24000, everything totaled up. One issue though....

They are asking me to pull out $652 in unsubsidized loans. I found out how unsub loans worked by asking the school and looking it up online and I really do not want to pull these out. Considering the fact that its only $652, would it even be necessary to accept it, or could I deny this loan and work my way around the expected cost of attending UCI. I know that I am going to be frugal on "personal expenses and transportation".

I haven't factored in scholarships yet because I haven't received any :(. But I hope some of you can help me.

Ohh and also if I get a direct subsidized loan for summer school this 08-09 year, will I not be able to get the subsidized loan that they are offering me for 09-10 school year?

THANKS ^_^

i declined it…

it just accumulates intrest and makes it more…
it breaks down to lik 200 and some dollars per quarter.
if theres any other way you can pay for it thats what I would suggest.

there’s a program at UCI called The PACE Plan… you can make payments over a three-month period/length of a quarter. you gotta sign up for it each quarter if you intend to use that method of payment for registration fees and such. look into it =] I would link you, but I’m on my iPhone…

Here’s the link for the PACE plan:

You can accept or decline whatever part of UCI’s FA package you choose.

Your current package is based on the academic year. If you’re interested in attending Summer Session, there’s a separate/additional FA process for that:

[UCI Financial Aid](http://www.summer.uci.edu/services/financial/aid/)

Applications for SS FA are due by June 2. Good luck!

Thanks for all your help you guys!!!
