I just got accepted EA, and I submitted my CSS Nov 18th. Does anyone have any idea when I can expect to see my financial aid package?

Read through all the details in the info that came with the acceptance. I think I read somewhere within that they may provide a tentative indication (or perhaps a rough estimation would be a better way to put it) a few weeks after the acceptance if the CSS has been received, but a final determination can not be made until some point after the FAFSA has been submitted which can’t be done until after Jan. 1. Merit, of course, is a separate issue and they said that would likely be announced 2-3weeks after your acceptance.

I did real though all of the information and no specific information about the release of FA was given. They did say the would give out tenative packages based on when we sent in the CSS (Note: Thats why I gave when my CSS date). My question was aimed at people who might be able to give a timeline of when they start sending out the tentative packages

I called their office on Friday and asked this exact question. They told me they have only sent out around 100 FA letters so far and are back logged due to the large number of invitations to admit from EA. They said to expect letters in the next two weeks.

I called because I requested a NCP waiver and I didn’t know if that was holding up the process.

I was hoping for the financial aid letter by now. There is nothing in my sons portal and in snail mail. Has anyone received a letter yet?

My son’s came today,

Is it in his portal too? I requested a NPC waiver and I know a team has to review and approve it. I wonder if that is causing the delay.

Ecnadad- was it more, less or just what you expected? Any surprises?

Also received letter today (from Fin. Aid Office) but can not open since it’s addressed to my S and he is away on ski trip this weekend. Not really expecting any aid though beyond unsubsidized Stafford loan. I do have portal access and nothing in there yet. Will report back when results known.

What a respectful dad you are! The only rule my son has is that I am not allowed to open the USC decision letter. I have his permission for everything else especially anything financial aid related since I am leading that for him.

GamerGal27… honestly, I didn’t expect any need-based aid and we didn’t get any. It contained the previous merit offer and the loan. Good luck.

Still waiting for the FA letter. sigh

The financial aid office just confirmed that my son’s FA letter went out today. For those who have already received theirs, did it get posted on your child’s portal as well?

Hi again gamergal. As noted above my son received his FA letter last Friday (results exactly as expected). Nothing has appeared on the portal as of yet.

Sounds like they may not post FA on the portal. Guess we need to wait for the mail then.

USC scholarship letters also go out this week. They have this odd system where they select about 1,000 students as potential scholarship winners. These folks then have to fly out to LA to interview for them. Everyone else gets a letter that says “You are not a winner. We’ll let you know if you are even accepted at the end of March.” (I am sure it is worded a bit more kindly than that.)

So this is a big week at our house for mail.

I received my letter (in NH) a couple of days ago. I was genuinely (but pleasantly) surprised - it would cost less than the high school I currently attend. They posted PDFs of some of the letters they have sent me (my admissions decision and my merit notification) but they have not, at least as of now, posted the whole financial aid letter.

Best of luck!

The FA letter just arrived and my son was awarded more FA than the NPC indicated. In addition to the $10K merit-based scholarship, he received a $7K need-based scholarship, $8.5K in Loans and $950 in work-study. I am surprised on the $7K scholarship and wonder if it because I have a daughter in college as well.

Glad to hear that some have received more aid than expected. Always a pleasant surprise! Any good news from USC, Gamergal?

The USC letters for the quarter, half and full tuition scholarships went out on Friday. I actually don’t think his stats are high enough for one of these big scholarships. We are just hoping for an admit and a decent scholarship. We will probably need to wait until the end of March.

when did you guys submit your FAFSA? i submitted mine on Jan 2nd but on the portal it still shows as a missing item… am i the only one experiencing this??
