finacial aid and insurance??

I have 2 questions and I'm not sure where exactly to post them. Anyway here they are:

1) If you become lets say a plastic surgeon, what percentage (roughly) of your income would you have to put aside for insurance for malpractice? - 5% 20% 100%??? And does anyone know the chance or have any statsistics of the chances of you being sued?? Would it be like once in you career twice... 10 times?? I mean this is assuming thAT You are a reasonable/good/excellent doctor, not some complete bafoon.

2) How does the financial aid system work for med school. Is it the same as in college or is it different. And isn't for college you use you family income to determin how much you are legeble for but for med school would you still use your parents salaries???

Thank you in advance he he he it always ****es me off when someone says that but I mean it Thanks!!

bump ^^^^ helloooooo.. ANYone .. help please?!!

For financial aid your parents can cosign. But as far as scholarships in med school, those are extremely hard to get, you have to be one of the best if not the best person they see applying. They are not handed out as easily as normal college scholarships. For med school finan aid, if you are dependent of your parent then you would use their income, if you are independent of them then you use yours.

Insurance wise depending on your specialty and location and risk thats how much you will spend on insurance. One thing that can be said it will not be like 5 grand per year. No way. I read a statistic somewhere that even competent doctors are sued at least a few times during their course of practice.

WOW Thank you for your reply bigndude!! It's really helpful
