Hello, I am attending a community college to obtain an associate’s degree in engineering science. I want to continue on to a four year college to obtain a bachelors but my question is, will I still be eligible for financial aid if I used up all of my Pell Grant’s? Would I still be eligible for subsidized or unsubsidized loans?
All responses would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
The Pell Grant is 12 semesters, I think. That’s 6 years. How long have you been in school? The federal student loan is $5500 for freshman, $6500 for sophomores, and $7500/year for juniors and seniors. How many years of loans have you used?
I just started my engineering science. But before that I changed my major twice and been in college for four semesters. Fall 2018 is my fifth semester and I started my engineering science.
You can only get the Pell Grant for the equivalent of 6 years of college study (so 12 semesters). The federal government expects that you will be working toward a degree.
There is also an aggregate limit on the Direct Loan after which you can’t get any more of that either.
