So, I'm making my final decision between the University of Chicago and Johns Hopkins. I'm a little disappointed that JHU didn't offer me any financial aid.

Has anyone had any success with calling the FinAid department to discuss their situation? I actually am in a very unique situation, with my parents on a temporary foreign contract where their income appears much larger than it actually is. This was not clear on the CSS and FAFSA forms. Success stories? Are they kind and helpful?

Thanks.

Well, I'm in the process of doing so.. but I must say it's quite hard to get in contact with my Financial Aid officer in the first place. However, I mainly blame the 6 hour time difference between Hawaii and Maryland. For the past two weeks, I tried contacting my financial aid officer and when I finally did, I found out that he was no longer working there. Then, I got transferred to another who has yet to read my appeal. I've talked to a range of people - some of them were indifferent and slightly snappy while others were normal but not overly kind. It sure seems like a troublesome process, but if you can get better aid then surely it's worth the trouble! Anyways, good luck to you!

My roommate did this. His parents incomes were inflated. Give the financial aid office a call. This is strange, did Chicago offer considerably more? When I was deciding between the two, Hopkins offered considerably more. Interesting.
