If anyone knows how these schools do for people interested in music as nonmajors, please discuss that. Thanks!

You could consider a music supplement with recording/video, music resume and music letter of recommendation (1-2). Talent and accomplishments need to be high enough to justify a supplement but it sounds like you might be able to benefit. You don’t have to be a music major.

I have recorded my supplement. I’m really excited!

I will really think it will have a huge impact because I play the type of repertoire that college juniors and seniors play, so I’m hoping that counts for something.

Yay!!! :tada: :tada: :tada:

Are you interested in chancing/matching, or are you seeking more info on what music life is like at these schools for nonmusic majors? If the latter, you may want to change your title & initial post to reflect that so you get the right sets of eyes on this.

A bit of both…hoping to kill two birds with one stone but may not work

Rice has a school or music and also a non-major student orchestra. look up “Rice Campanile Orchestra” and you’ll see videos of their concerts. Rice band, MOB (Marching Owl Band), has a unique reputation. Many members of both groups were all-state members in high school.

@Winsto7 I hope you will post in the music major forum, where schools good for non-music majors are often discussed.

People will suggest schools with “good music programs” meaning BM programs but sometimes you want to avoid those because the best teachers and opportunities go to the BM students. There are exceptions of course.

Your music accomplishments will shine for admission to schools that do not have a BM program.

Sounds good. I guess this thread will be a general one for chance/match, and I’ll create a new one for music questions.
