FINAL Chance Me to Wharton (ED) and Ivys

Just wanted to update my results:

Accepted - Dartmouth, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, UVA, and BC. I was also offered a transfer option from Cornell
Waitlisted - Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Duke, and UChicago. I declined to stay on the Columbia, Duke, and UChicago waitlist. Rejected off the Yale one. Haven’t heard back from Harvard yet, keeping my fingers crossed!
Rejected - The Wharton School at UPenn (deferred and then rejected), Brown, and Princeton

Dartmouth Class of 2021!

Wishing future classes good luck!!!

@doorrealthe Thanks for the update. Congratulation on getting into Dartmouth! Best wishes to you!

Thank you!

Damn, I’m sorry about that Wharton ED rejection… :frowning: What were your essays about? I’m an upcoming senior with very similar stats and ECs as yours (but I’m Indian/Asian… RIP) and I’m really getting nervous just looking at this!! But congrats on your other acceptances, well-deserved IMO.

Thank you @aneeshs17

My Common Application essay was about my love for thrift shops (similar to the famous Costco essay thematically). My Why Penn essay was a little generic. Just talked about why I wanted to be at Wharton, the Kelly Writers House, and other unique Penn extracurriculars. I would be happy to send you those if you want.

To be honest with you, getting into Wharton is extremely difficult if you come from a wealthy area or if your school is competitive. My school had around 8 applicants who applied early, and of the handful that got in, only one was not a legacy.

I think I did everything I could for Wharton (applied early, had a good interview, wrote good essays, had good stats and ecs, and had the KWH backing me to some extent) but Wharton likes people who are more mathematically inclined. I had hoped that they wanted diversity since I had a clear interest in writing as well as business but guess not. Could just be my scenario though.

^ 8 applicants to Penn early, not Wharton itself. Maybe 3-4 applicants to Wharton early

I think you are right about legacy in Wharton admissions. Then when you add in first gen, URM, and athletes, you are looking at very few spots.
