FINAL DECISION: Hofstra or Indiana? just choose one:)

I really narrowed it down to these two....They are both giving me a lot of moneyy. There are many Pros and Cons for both....the main pro for hofstra beingg....it's 30 minutes away from new york!! (leading to internships..job opportunities...fieldwork) but the con for hofstra is...bad shady neighborhood and not that big of a school(i want to go to bigg school)

main pro for indiana is that it's ranked in the top 10 for their education department...and i am going in that field to become a special ed teacher/elementary teacher. also...it's a huge school and i desire to attend a HUGEEEEE school:) just experience something neww and i'm just that type of person:)

The funniest friends I have are education majors at IU.

IU…hofstra wouldn’t be as great as an experience

Indiana, hand down.

Since I am heading to Purdue in the Fall I am going to say Hofstra, I don’t have it in me to recommend Indiana to anyone.

Indiana is a gorgeous school with a chance of having a real college experience and a nice college town. Hofstra is just sad. New York will always be there–you can go there in the summer, you can go there after college, etc. But you only get the chance to live in a college town and experience college life once. Believe me, once that time is over, you’re just an overaged person in those enchanted places.

Indiana will give you a lifetime affiliation to enjoy.

Indiana. Hofstra will not be nearly the experience

I have to recommend Hofstra. It’s not a huge school, but it’s definitely large enough that while walking across campus you’re constantly meeting new people and running into new faces. At the same time, it’s medium-small enough in order to become a person rather than just a number sitting in a classroom.
As for being next to NYC or in a small college town…just think about that. The reason we go to college, when it boils down to it, is to get a degree and a job after graduation. The advantage of being 25 minutes from downtown Manhattan is HUGE. You have the opportunity to get an internship or even work in the city in the morning (or night) and take classes during the opposite time. You can even schedule your classes only on Monday’s, Wednesday’s (and/or Friday’s) and work Tuesday/ Thursday’s, or vise verse.
Plus, the neighborhood really isn’t all that bad. I’ve never felt unsafe walking around, and while Hempstead isn’t the nicest place in the world, Uniondale (which is where Hofstra really is located) and Garden City are some of the nicest places on Long Island. Plus, because we aren’t just a college town, there are a ton of more things to do off campus. There is nightlife, thousands of restaurants, the Rossevelt Field Mall (which is one of the largest in the nation), The Source Mall, Two movie theaters, Bowling alleys, etc.

Good luck making your decision!

Indiana is gorgeous - both the campus and the town of Bloomington

Please, for your own sake, don’t go to Hofstra.
