@vshtxn You are so inspiring!!
You guys are awesome. Thank you so much!
Thank you, and everyone on this page so much for sharing your story. What a great community! My D is entering senior year, also about to apply for Theater/Acting, probably a very similar list, although we are still figuring that out. Likewise, she has done a lot of community/regional theater, including one Equity production, and one film, which we hope comes out this year. I am excited and terrified for this year. The calendar sounds the most terrifying. My D is okay about all the auditioning, we will keep that part fun. What your top suggestions about Unifieds? I live near NYC in NJ, but several people suggest going to Chicago.
@FourStars Chicago is attractive because it is spread over 4 days and is very well attended. There are as many “non-unified official” schools as there are official Unified schools (generally holding auditions at the same time in hotels near the Palmer House). We attended NY Unifieds (S- MT 2014) and Chicago Unifieds (D - Acting - 2016) and preferred the efficiency of Chicago. This year (D2) will likely attend Chicago but will make final decisions as her list shakes out and she decides if/when she may want to do on-campus auditions. We are in NE Ohio so hope to do the Ohio schools, UMich, CMU (if they stay on the list) on campus; the balance at Unifieds.
@FourStars I don’t regret only doing NY Unifieds. It was convenient and we banged out 7 in two days with no airfare expense.
We did 11 at NYC Unifieds! Able to get the majority of them done there. You don’t “have” to go to Chicago if NYC is convenient for you.
