Final help..Cal Poly SLO vs UCSB

I may be overdoing this, it is my 3rd thread on this topic, but I only have 4 days left to decide and I really need some non biased answers.

I have to make a decision between cal poly slo and ucsb, and I think I am much more interested in business, but would be willing to do economics at ucsb for an increased chance at an MBA in later years.

I need opinions on which school is more prestigious among job employers, and which would be a smarter choice for someone wanting to possibly get int ibanking.

The pros I've gathered for cp slo are: great job recruitment, very good b-school, I like the campus and slo a lot, and I feel like the undergrad education will really help me succeed. The cons: not nearly as much partying as sb, hard to switch majors, bad food, not as known to "people on the street" as a respected univ.

Ucsb pros: it has the uc name tag, a strong research university, right on the beach, rediculous social life, more people know it than cal poly. Cons: I wouldn't be interested in any other major besides Econ and if I don't like Econ I'm screwed, I hate the campus

I have a very hard choice to make, but I want to make the smart decision. I want to work in private business, and make a large starting salary. I also want to go and get an MBA after about 4 years of work exp so business undergrad or Econ. I also want to have a fun social life, and plan on joining a frat most likely.

A couple more questions and I'm done; is cal poly prestigious even though more people know ucsb bc of the uc name. As you can see I'm worried that since cp doesn't have that uc tag attached it might hurt me.

Thanks, and sorry for so much questions I'm kind of stressing out.. A lot

I think that stressing over perceived “prestige” is rather pointless. Both universities are great schools in great locations. Flip a coin, then see if you feel comfortable with whichever one comes up. If that choice doesn’t sit well, choose the other one. Once you start school, throw all your energy into doing your best and making new friends. And don’t look back.

the fact that ordinary people on the street know about one college over the other does not contribute to anything in your case, since grad schools are aware of both slo and sb’s programs very well.

I know, it’s just that I don’t want to make the wrong decision an choose cal poly over the prestigious UCsb.

I like cal poly much more, and I am interested in doing business so cal poly seems like the right choice. But UCSB is uc and I’m worried that it might be better for getting into grad school and maybe even getting better jobs just because of the uc name.

Any more advice would be very very very much appreciated. I have 1 day to decide so please be as specific as possible.

Thanks

Neither is a target school for ibanking. So you can basically drop the “prestige” test for this purpose.

look, you can’t make a wrong decision here. flip a coin and congratulate yourself on getting such great options that your are torn.

Personally I would choose CPSLO but that’s only because I like the smaller size and whole vibe there better than UCSB’s. Don’t worry about prestige just make a choice and go be happy with it!

I know I shouldn’t be worrying about prestige so much it’s just that small differece between going up to someone an saying I go ucsb or cal poly.

What’s more important to me though is overall education, job placement, and area. Secondary comes partying and better looking girls which sb comes out on top for both.

But I’m 95% sure I’m choosing cal poly
