What grades would cause an admission's counselor to worry? How low to send a letter?

I see multiple scenarios at play. The kid who gets some Cs would probably warrant a letter, but not the kid who gets a B. But what about getting a lot of Bs for example.

I'm confused as to what they look for. Outlier grades, or a trend.

C’s generally would warrant a letter, but probably not rescinding the admission. It’s likely that Admissions would require some sort of condition, like attending a summer program to make sure the student is prepared for WashU. I think it depends on what the grades initially were. If you were getting B+s and A-s, getting Bs probably wouldn’t be an issue. If all of a sudden from A+s grades dropped to B-s, it’s more debatable. It is extremely unlikely that WashU would rescind an acceptance for a transcript full of Bs.
