Finally picked a program

After the months of auditions, stress, and waiting impatiently, I have chosen to be a part of The University of the Arts class of 2018 with a BFA in Acting. I spent the past week visiting my top three choices after audition season (UArts, Montclair, and Point Park) and today I officially committed to UArts!(: The program is really wonderful and offers everything I'm looking for. I'm still waiting to hear back from Roosevelt and Tisch regarding my wait-listed status, but even if I end up getting in off the wait list at either school I am planning on attending UArts. Very happy ending to this very hectic year.
Any current UArts students out there have any information or advice? I had all of the specific questions I could come up with answered on my campus visit, but information from those with first hand experience is always nice (:

That’s my girl!
Bravo, sweetie pie! I’m so happy that you are excited about your decision. I’m very proud of you!

Awesome, so glad you guys are off the hook. I used to write for Philly Weekly and it seems like a very interesting arts scene they have going there.

Jkellynh17, are you from/in Philly?

No and honestly I don’t know how the editor got my name. I live in S New Hampshire, but I wrote about the Philly music scene for years and years .

That’s hilarious, Jkellynh17! Not sure what it says about Philadelphia Weekly.

Why? We had a guy from Australia too and he was fantastic.

sorry to have hijacked your thread @AlmostGraceKelly. My point: Philly is a great town for the arts, a little gritty but cheap enough that artists can take chances.

As a Philadelphian I disagree that it’s gritty. It is cheaper than New York or Boston and it has a very rich theater scene.

As another Philadelphian, I want to say that Philadelphia is a terrific city, which is often under-rated by people. The cultural scene in general is fantastic, and it is a great place to be young. Enjoy U Arts!

Philly is a great vibrant town, one of the few reasonably priced cities left, with a vibrant arts and cultural scene, great restaurants, and a mix of classes and peoples. (Can you tell I love it?) When I first moved here, having grown up near NYC, I didn’t appreciate it as much. Over the years, I’ve fallen in love with Philly. Artists can actually live here, as opposed to increasingly gentrified NYC and Boston (for example). I love walking around and it has some really awesome areas. It does have pockets of rough areas, but all cities have that.

Thank you Philadelphians for your insight! It’s scary to send your 18 year pld to a big city that you don’t know much about. Your comments have really helped ease my mind and bolstered my D’s decision that UArts is the right school (in the right city) for her.

annelisesmom, if you have any questions at all, please pm me.

Just spent the weekend at UArts with a friend who goes there! Such a fun place, lots of opportunities! Congratulations on deciding, thats awesome! :)

@connections - thank you so much! I may have to take your up on that offer! So much to learn!
