Finance Job out of Wharton

i am wondering what kinds of business opportunities there are out there, outside of ibanking (and not starting my own company).

i am an undergrad at wharton, and i don't find the lifestyle of an i-banker very lucrative at all. i am kind of interested in equity research, but i am still young (just finished my freshman year) and do not know enough about these different areas to decide.

is there a field in finance that will offer more reasonable hours in the long run (after maybe 3-4 years of super long hours)? the only thing i can think of is working on the corporate side of a nonfinancial company, such as an automobile corporation. but i really have no idea

bottom line is, im looking for a field that will require skills in finance (and maybe operations management), but in the long-run will prove to have reasonable hours (40-60 a week?) and pay fairly high (300k in the long-run?).

no idea if such a job exists.

Have you ever looked into asset management

corp fin at f500? work your way up to vp/exec i guess

you should look into sales and trading

It is very common for young people not to have an idea of what they want to do, even at graduation. Most people change their career paths several times before they find their ideal job, it is an ongoing learning process.

You still have plenty of time to choose your concentration, so start talking to advisors and the career office.
