Hey I really need help. So my sophmore year I really screwed up. My gpa when from a 3.3 fall 2016 to a 2.6 Spring 2017. I was being harrassed which caused my grades to fall. And I’m trying to get myself back up. My original plan was to go to law school and I was going retake all the classes I did horrible in to raise my GPA, but I feel when they look at my transcript theyre going to laugh not knowing the reason. So I am looking on changing my major to Finance. Since I feel it’d be more likely that I’d find a job in that field. But is it possible to still go to law school and should I keep my political science major? Or should I be realistic and just pursue Finance.
On the common app, you can explain the extenuating circumstances that caused your grades to drop in the “additional info” section.
I’m currently enrolled in a university, not in high school
You can major in Finance and still go to Law School.
You can also major in political science and still find a job.
So really, it’s up to you. If you want to change your major because you are genuinely interested in a career in finance, go ahead. If you only want to change your major because you are panicking about not being able to get into law school and you don’t know else to do, relax and talk to your advisor or the career center.
