I am a Freshman that is currently majoring in Finance. My minor right now is listed as econ, but I have started to rethink this. If I were to switch my minor to real estate, would this open up any additional job opportunities such as REITs? I'm somewhat unclear on how important a minor is for job placement. I thoroughly enjoy both subjects, so this is a somewhat difficult decision. Any opinions or experience would be extremely helpful.

I too like the idea of studying Econ, but here is the problem; I have heard over and over that econ without a master’s degree is not very useful. But since you already are majoring in finance, I can see how it might look attractive to recruiters. So for you, I would think that both minors would have equal benefits, with neither being that much better than the other. So how to choose… It would have to come down to which one you enjoy the most, and which one can you get the best grades in. Since a high GPA is always sought after.
