Finance major wants to pursue econ PHD.

Hi guys, I am currently a finance major.

I love economics, and one day I would like to pursue a PHD in econ from a top uni.

My question is, is the fact that I will graduate with a finance degree going to hurt/disqualify my chances of getting into an economics PHD program?
I am sticking with finance for undergraduate because I need a major that is employable after undergrad.
I plan on majoring in finance and minoring in econ (my school does not allow double majors)

Thank you.

You should minor in math...a top econ program requires advanced math.

I already took a few advanced courses in math, so I can double minor in math and economics.

But can I still make it into a top econ program being a finance major?

You can major in anything you like for an economics PhD, just as long as you have enough math preparation and maybe some basic or intermediate knowledge in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.
