What are the best ap courses to take in hs for a finance major? My school doesn't have ap Econ, and I'm only taking apes ap physics and ap stat ( and academic Econ). Or does it not really matter what you take bc my school doesn't really have any business classes(only like 2)

I wouldn’t really worry about it. Econ, stats, and Calc 1 & 2 are the only AP classes I think could be any help. On the other hand, other credits can help you get gen eds out of the way. I did that and I’m graduating with a Finance degree in only 3 years.

The best way for a business student to use APs is to take out gen eds like Illini said. Business classes in hs tend to be poorly taught or super dumbed down.

I do have to say, though, that AP Stats sparked my interest in analytical math, which underlies finance, accounting etc.

Take every Accounting class your HS offers plus all other AP classes if you can stomach them (only if you want to get gen eds out of the way).

The practicality of classes from most useful to least is:
Accounting (can’t stress this enough)
Statistics and Economics (You need a good Statistics background past intro level Econ classes)
Calc 1 (On the fence with this one. It’s not necessary for the type of coursework but if you can get Calc 1 at least & also 2 out of the way during HS then do that for transcript/resume purposes)

Look up Financial and Managerial Accounting materials if your school doesn’t have the classes. I wish I would have done this during HS but I didn’t really know what I wanted to do at the time but now I’m a Finance and Economics double major.

Math is #1 in terms of usefulness. That includes Algebra, Trig, and Calc.

You wont believe how many times I have seen kids in university classes who still can’t seem to understand basic algebra or arithmetic.
