Finance right after Undergrad from Northwestern Engineering?

Hello all,

I'm currently entering my junior year, studying Electrical Engineering at Northwestern University. My GPA is 3.82, I am president of the NASA-affiliated engineering design team (NUSTARS), I have had two internships (This summer I have an Avionics/Network systems internship at Boeing in Seattle), and I am fluent in Spanish and German.

I am considering getting an MBA right after I graduate, either through Harvard's 2+2 program or maybe an equivalent. Any suggestions? What else should I do to improve my resume?

I have not taken the GMAT yet, but I will prepare adequately and I am a VERY good test taker.

Most top business schools require at least 2 years of post bac work experience.

Even with work experience, you still need 700+ on the GMAT… and it’s quite likely that you might want to go part-time at that point, especially if you have some tuition benefits from your employer.

If you’re interested in finance, at this point you’d be better off focusing on getting a good job rather than an MBA. Nevertheless, take the GMAT and get it out of the way and do your best to maintain your GPA. You’ll be a strong candidate after 3-5 years of work experience. Of course, if you get into the Harvard program ignore the irrelevant portions of this post.
