Financial aid and scholarships for students weekend SECOND degree?

Are there any sites or resources available that go into detail about obtaining financial aid and scholarships for students who have already earned a bachelors and are seeking a second bachelors degree ?

Anyone experienced with this situation?

You mention on another thread that you have a BBA but want to “transfer” to TAM for a second bachelors in computer science. Since you have a bachelors already, I don’t think you would be considered a “transfer student”.

Really, why wouldn’t you want to get a masters degree?

Your GPA was 2.5 or so. I would strongly suggest you get a job, and take one course at a time in the computer science field. There are probably colleges in Texas where you can take up to a certain number of masters credits prior to matriculating. You want to get top grades in any courses you take.

I don’t believe federally funded aid is available for a second bachelors degree. The best source for aid would be the college itself…but most colleges don’t give aid for second bachelors degrees.

Some employers have tuition reimbursement.

Agree with Thumper. Take time to talk to the college for your options to pick up the computer skills you are seeking either toward a masters or simply as enrichment in addition to your existing BA. The skills you would pick up class by class and the work experience will be more valuable than pursuing another undergraduate degree in my opinion.

Very few places have specific categories of “second bachelor” admissions. This means that in almost all cases, an applicant like this one would be applying as a transfer student. And as with regular transfers, which course transfer and as what will depend on the receiving institution.

Normally the only aid available to a second bachelor student is in the form of unsubsidized federal loans. I agree that in this case, coursework at a local community college will almost certainly be more cost-effective.
