Financial Aid Appeal?

I'm from New York City, so I'd have to pay a pretty penny. I have a 5k/year scholarship so I'd have to pay around 45k/year. (5k is pretty skimpy... & I have the grades for a good scholarship too.) I'd be in debt 100k by the end of the four years. Has anyone successfully appealed their financial aid package?

We were wondering the same? Do you know how to go about it appealing a scholarship decision or lack there of.

I spoke to admissions after my S was admitted OOS with a 4.0 in a challenging curriculum, 9/200 class rank and a 1250 M/V SAT. I was told by admissions that the cut off for merit aid awards was either 3.5 or 3.7 and a M/V SAT of 1350. My S’s friend had a lower GPA, higher class rank but higher SAT’s.

sorry, never finished my sentence- his friend had lower GPA, higher class rank but higher SATs and got $12,000 while we got nothing.

I think UCONN prefers SAT score to GPA and class rank.

Sadly most schools do.
