How is it?
I am interested in applying next year, maybe ED. But financial aid is a big factor for me.
Are most people happy with their package?

fill out your fafsa and find your expected family contribution. columbia tends to match the remaining amount and is supposedly trying to get away from loans (and move more towards grants) but if you're not happy with the efc, there's not much you can do except apply to tons of outside scholarships

I am very satisfied with my financial aid. My brother's going to Cornell next year and I'm getting more in grants than he is.

Which class are you in pudding?

what about for ED or International?

what about for ED or International?

i've never seen stats or even heard that ED fin.aid is worse than regular decision but that might be due to the fact that it's binding and no one would be able to apply ED and RD....

general rule of thumb tho: if you are worried about not getting enough money, don't apply ED.

as for internationals, never heard it's any worse but it does affect your chances of getting in (Columbia isnt need blind for internationals)

Vesalvay, I'm in the c/o 2010.

Pudding, do you already have your award for next year? When did you get it?

^no one should have their awards yet. if you go to the fin.aid website it ways they will be mailed mid-june tho

Does Columbia have the problem of giving less after freshmen year?

I hope not.

i'll tell you in a week or so

Hold tight, peeps!

any updates??

It toook a bit of haggling, but I'm smiling now.

Yeeeeehawwww!

Wait, I'm waiting for Skraylor...

What was wrong with your fin aid zero cool?

i think zero cool is class of 11 but i could be wrong.

still waiting on mine tho, hopefully by next friday it will be here

Sorry for the confusion-- I was replying to the original question about financial aid at columbia in general.

My parents had special circumstances that weren't taken into account for the first package. Another, slightly better offer came through, but it was still beyond what I would consider reasonbale for my parents to pay. I started to get really worried that I wouldn't be able to attend, but the third package offered was much more realistic. Good luck with your app next year.

Hey zerocool, just making sure, you're Matt S, right? (Keeping your last name initialed for your privacy :P)
