Hello, this is an international student accepted recently at Kenyon ED II program. My financial aid has not been determined yet so I was wondering about the average aid an international student gets from the college. I am unable to pay more than around 4000 dollars at most a year. I would be grateful to hear from accepted international students about their financial aid package.
I look forward to your help.
Thank you.

I am not a Kenyon student, but I'm an international who applied to Kenyon, and did my fair share of research on the school. The following comes fromThomson & Peterson's "Applying to Colleges & Universities in the US: The Handbook for International Students":

"......For fall 2002 (estimated), 35 international students on campus received college administered financial aid ($31,938 avg.)" Please note that the cost of attendance (tutuin and room+board) that year was roughly 35K, so it seems that Kenyon is pretty generous when it comes fin aid for international students. Also check out the College Board website and try the College Quickfinder feature to find more info on Kenyon.

I should mention though that one worrying aspect of applying ED to a college especially if you are an intl. is that your chances of getting aid is jeopardized. For instance, Grinnell forbids internationals seeking aid from applying ED as do a number of other well-known colleges. But I hope to God that that doesn't happen to you.

I'm not an international student, so I'm not sure if this applies but I thought my tentative need based aid from Kenyon was very generous - more than I expected. Why is ED jeopardizing to aid? I've never heard that before so I'm curious.

Also, since mine is only tentative, does anyone know when it becomes finalized?

I'm an international student and I got accepted ED at Kenyon.
Where are u from chochu444?

I applied for financial aid and I can tell u i'm extremely happy on what Kenyon has offered to me. They covered all my need. I beleive they will do the same with your situation.

good luck

lainey, The reason people with a high level of concern about financial aid are often advised not to apply ED is that ED admission is BINDING, meaning that you have to attend if accepted, regardless of the amount of financial aid given. With Regular Decision admission, you can compare all of your financial aid offers and see which of the schools gives the best aid.

Oh boy, I have recently decided that I made a very very silly decision in not applying for aid as international since they seem to be pretty generous. I guess I'll just apply next year as a returning student..

yeahmeh, congrats on your acceptance. If you don't mind could you give me some clue, as to how much aid you are getiing. Thanx.

Hi MotherofTwo, I already knew that actually - it just didn't really register that that was what everyone was talking about. :) Thanks!

hello yeahmeh, i m from Nepal. where are you from? I have also got a very good package and I am happy with the aid. Kenyon rules. yeahmeh, do you know what the full tution fee is? I have 38480 covered but thats all I know right now.
I would love to keep in touch with you yeahmeh.

hey chochu
do u have an aim nick?
I don't know exactly what's full tuition.
I've got a little bit less than chochu in financial aid.
I know the fall 2005 is 41500 $.
What do u think tomajor in chochu?

ah chochu,
in what forms did they award u financial aid? I mean grants, loans, job on campus?

yeahmeh, here are my details for fin aid:
grant 34480
loan 3000
employment: 1000
family 4000
but i have heard that the family contribution goes into air fare and books as well so i guess i have to pay only around 1000 to the college. i heard air fare is 1800 and books cost 1100 so dont need to pay to the college too much. guess i am satisfied. what about your fin aid details? and i m thinking abt a major in international relations. what abt u? where r u from?
see u.

So it seems that Kenyon is really very generous with the Financial aid...I also received similar aid package as chochu!!
