<p>Ok, everyone knows that NYU is notoriously bad with need-based FA. But aren't they getting rid of merit scholarships, and focusing on need-based only? How much will this help? College Board says NYU meets on average 68% of a student's need. Will that number creep up to 80ish%, lower, higher? </p>

<p>Is this the first year the changes are taking place? </p>

<p>Not likely. I'm sure the endowment took a hit with the financial crisis. Hopefully they had no investments with Madoff.</p>

<p>Also keep in mind that many colleges call 'meeting student's needs' a package of loans.</p>

<p>Be prepared to have your aid package consist of some substantial loans.</p>
