How would one describe the financial aid at Smith? Are they generous? I live in a single parent household- my mother makes about $40000-50000 a year, and we are a family of 4 (my older brother is in college and she is struggling to pay the EFC).
I have heard good things about their financial aid. They meet full need, but like all other colleges, they define your need for you. Run the net price calculator and see what it shows you.
My daughter is an incoming firstie and we have found them to be very generous, of all the schools my daughter was accepted to, they were actually the most generous except a state university that offered her free tuition as part of a merit package.
Every college has a net price calculator on their website. You should run them for all the colleges you are interested in. However, if your parents are divorced, have a small business, ir have rental property, it won’t be very accurate.
My mom earns about 50k, I live with her and my two other siblings, she’s separated from my dad who earns 60k a year.
My tuition came out to 10k per yer without any special scholarships. Smith financial aid is very generous imho. Look at schools that meet “full need” like Barnard and Amherst and if you get accepted to a few you’ll have good choices because chances are they’ll be cheaper than state unis for you
