Financial Aid Comes Out August

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is right or not but I called the Financial Aid office at UCSD and the machine message states that the financial aid will come out for the Fall 2008 quarter in AUGUST, and not a week before school starts like I heard somewhere.

Is this for continuing undergrads? The UCSD fin aid office is SO SLOW this year. Last year I could swear that I knew my financial aid preliminary results before summer even started! Its nerve racking to try to save and plan for next year when I don't even know if I am going to get the aid to even go here!

I got my PAN waaay before summer. I'm in coming freshman.

oh man ...
i'm still waiting too! I'm a continuing student as well
however, my roomate got hers award notice last week
do you think we should go ask the office ?
but the office told me that if you're selected for verification, then it'll take a longer time.

yepyep.. it's nerve racking and bad.
i got mine really early last year too

Did anyone get this too?
"An error has occurred in processing your application. Please contact the Financial Aid Office."

I called and they claimed it was a server issue..and told me to log out and log back in...which did not make it go away. The UCSD office ppl are kinda rude seeming too.

I got the same message as you jellybelly. I don't think it's anything serious. Obviously there can't be a huge error if all of the other information they have is correct (or at least mine is). And I also wouldn't judge the office people by this alone. I've had to call them many times and most of them are pretty friendly, even when I didn't have a clue. They are probably just dealing with a lot of calls from frantic freshman.

I am a continuing student and i got an email yesterday saying that my financial aid was ready, so they are starting to send out the awards. I also got that message at first, but i signed out and signed back in and it was gone.

I still haven't gotten anything...

And the finaid people really are very nice, especially if you go into the office itself. This is just the worst time to call them (the folks on CC aren't the only one worried about it...)

Update update! Got my preliminary aid report today! I didn't get an email though..just signed in to check it myself and it was there....

Preliminary award's have been out for a while now, we're still waiting on official.

Just finished my financial awards and signed up with a lender. You guys should check your student email ASAP. From there they tell you step by step directions how to find your awards. And do thisi quick because i think there is a 14 day period or else your awards will be rescinded or something .

Some continuing students have been having to wait for any type of aid report. I didn't receive any estimate on aid from FinAid office until yesterday. Usually I receive 2...one "preliminary" one followed by a "confirmed" status one. This is the first one I ever received...so I assumed that it is subject to change at their discretion. New students probably receive notification first so they can weigh different aid options at all the schools they applied to.

Yay, I got my financial aid today. I didn't get an e-mail, though, which kinda ticked me off, but whatever. At least its over with...

Same here, only thing missing was my cal grant award, still shows up as "pending certification form". Will give them a ring on monday.

oocircleoo

how do you know if you're selected for verification?
did people get emails about them?? deadline was may 1st but I just found the verification form a week ago. I dont know if I was selected but last week I was looking at my PAN and I saw the link to the verification form. oh man my friend was telling me about the finaid verification form in May but I just ignored it because when I did my sir all they asked for was resident verification. i'm kinda getting panicky about it because I need all the aid I can get with my parents divorcing this year, and my mom being a single parent and all.

If you can/could access the verification form, you were selected.

I would get on the horn ASAP because you stand a very good chance of receiving no financial aid whatsoever.

No it only affects work study and UCSD/school grant.
So those selected for verification didnt get an email or anything about it??

I was selected for verification, and there was a link for the verification form right on my financial aid checklist.

i already got my official letter...and did that "online loan class"...i chosed citi btw for the student loans haha

Same here, had to do that online loan class thing twice, didn't register the first time =/

Chose citi as well.
