I transferred to state last fall, and i got a disburtment check 2300, but i tried deposting in my bank account i opened last week. the check was originally disbursed on 8/23/13, and the check had a 6 month void limit. Is it possible to obtain the check again. the original grant was 5500, the school took about 3200 for tuition. and sent the rest to me as a check, 2300$. IM GOING TO the financial aid office tommorow? is this a waste of time?

I’m pretty sure that the Bursar’s Office should be able to replace the check for you. Don’t wait so long next time, ya?

i did not have a bank account last semester, thats why it took so long

You could have opened a bank account at ANY time. In addition, you probably could have taken this check to your bursar’s office and had them put it IN your account as a surplus (my son did that with a refund once that was not a Pell overage…the school gave him a check, and he walked it to the bursar’s office and asked that it be put into his account. Since it was THEIR check, they were happy to oblige).

Take the uncashed check with you when you go.

You may also cash a check with a small fee at some place.

Not easy for that amount, unless you walk into the issuing bank.

i did not have an ID last semester to open an account, this is issue is resolved.
