Anyone who has received FA from Emory in the past and has direct deposit mind checking their statements and seeing how long after the scheduled disbursement date they actually received their funds?

it’s disbursed on the date it’s supposed to be disbursed. if you do a direct deposit, it’s two business days for them to receive the payment I think.

not sure what you’re asking

Let me try again: After the funds have been disbursed to your Emory account (from the feds) - how long until Emory deposits your refund? Not asking what the disbursement date is (it’s clearly stated on FA site), but when students typically have seen a deposit in their personal accounts.

For example, the disbursement date for this year is Aug, 23. A student who has a commercial bank account can expect Emory to deposit their refund on Aug, [ ].

You’d only get a refund to your bank account if the amount of grants + loan money you get exceeds the amount you have to pay for that semester, which only applies to a small amount of people (usually those getting near full rides and those taking out all loans). Last year the financial aid disbursement date was 8/19/2011 and people who go refunds didn’t get the refunds posted to their OPUS balance until 9/6/11 (plus another 3-5 business days for it to actually show up on your bank account).

I know how the disbursement/refund process works. That’s not what I was asking. I just wanted folks - who have direct deposit - to check their past disbursement dates, and then - in their personal checking accounts - find the date the school deposited their refund (ie when did your cash show up at your bank for use).

3 weeks seems like quite an excessive amount of time to wait for a refund (since much of this process is automated). I’m used to FA being disbursed/deposited within a weeks time, from a campus dealing with nearly three times as many students.
