I know this is a little early but I am taking some time in managing my expenses for the upcoming school year. I haven't decided if I will be working. For financial aid, I was awarded around 13,000 and the estimated cost of attendance is a little more than 20,000. I am planning to live off campus and buying my textbooks online (not from the bookstore). The only thing I will be paying directly to UF will be tuition. From past experience, can anyone estimate how much my refund will turn out to be?

What does your course load look like?

I’m taking 5 classes. 13 credits total (I know it’s a little but it’s because I have a 1 credit BSC1920 course which was recommended by my advisor).

Organic Chemistry 1
Ancient Egypt
Health and Medical Terminology
Personal Family Health
Biology Colloquium

13k - (170*13) = 10790

Minus any additional fees associated with the classes, you can see those in the schedule of courses.

Additional fees from the classes I’m taking turns out to be like $60.25. So I’ll be getting almost 11K refunded. Is that normal?

No, you will get something like $8,000 back. Your $13,000 is for the school year, but that includes two semesters worth of tuition, about $5,000 in your case (assuming you don’t take more classes in the spring).

132170 + 120 = $4,540 $13,000 - $4,540 = $8,460

You will get half of that each semester, so you are looking at a refund of about $4,240 each semester.

Does that 13k include loans?

Ohhh ok gotcha. No that 13k amount are just grants and bright futures. No loans.

In the spring I will take about 15-16 credits.
