Financial Aid Doesn't Show Work Study

I received Work Study from UCSB(making it a full ride), but UCD says that I need to contribute $3,500… does this mean I didn’t qualify for Work Study at UCD or what? I doubt I wouldn’t qualify because I’m surely the poorest student applying…

EDIT: ignore this post. i thought you were a prospective freshman! sorry about that. you should just call them up. there is no way we can be completely accurate.

i talked to the financial aid office several times and e-mailed them. here are their responses about why work study wasn’t included in my package.
“Freshmen are not offered work study.”
“In terms of work-study students are not offered this as part of their aid packages, and in general entering student’s do not work thhie first year as they become acclimated to life on campus. However, you do not need work-study in order to work and based on your aid package, if you have an work-study employer who is interested in hiring you, the employer can request work-study from the Financial Aid Office and assuming funding is available your self-help on MyAwards will be reduced to make room for the work-study.
just copy and pasted exactly.

Thank you!

I got work study from UC Santa Cruz but not from UC Davis. It seems like Davis only gives work study to a small number of people. So if it is not in your financial aid package, it probably means that you did not get it. Not sure though.

Also, this is somewhat off topic, but you said that you got a full ride from SB with work study? Does that mean that you got all grants + work study, or does that include loans as well?

Subsidized Stafford Loan for ~5,500 just like UCDavis, and an Unsubsidized Stafford Loan for ~1,500 which I wouldn’t take… Graduating with ~11,000 of Subsidized Stafford Loans would be nice.
