Financial Aid for EA admitted students

My son was admitted EA but is still waiting on financial aid notification. We have submitted all required documents, filed the CSS Profile last Oct. and the FAFSA in Jan. I thought EA admitted students would have been given an estimated FA notification by now.

In my experience 2 years ago I applied ED, but did not find out FA until mid/late March. I think there is a way to find out the exact date on your online Nova account.

MyNova currently states FA awards will be posted in late March. However, during the EA application process, Nova and several other EA schools did promise early FA notification if you completed the CSS Profile by a certain date.

Of all the schools my son been accepted EA, only Providence has given him a tentative amount in January. Thus far we are still waiting on Bentley, Binghamton and Fordham to issue FA. Babson which accepted him RD has already issued him FA amounts.

If you receive a Villanova Scholarship, are you notified at the same time as other financial aid notifications?

From what I remember, I think everyone (EA and RD) gets Aid information at the same time, which may have been the same day that RD decisions come out (tentatively March 20th). Villanova Scholarship is included in the financial aid notification.

Mynova says financial aid awards will be posted March 27th & mailed first week of April.

Wednesday can’t come soon enough for us. We’ve been waiting on pins and needes, it’s all going to come down to what we find out on Wednesday. I know this is a first world problem but we’ve been praying 24/7 Nova works out to be an affordable option.

Anyone know what time on the 27th the financial aid will be posted? Please make it be earlier than later. I remember the EA acceptance date it was late in the day or early evening. He must have hit the refresh button 100 times before his answer came by way of the congratulations video. No matter what happens on Wednesday I will never forget the sheer joy on my son’s face when he saw that video. He’s 8 for 9 acceptances in now, but that first one from Villanova was the sweetest.

Well we received our letter today… 4000.00 a year. It is somewhat of a joke compared to the offers she received from the other schools. Hope everyone else has better news.

We received our finaid letter today too as well. Was more than we expected given what we were told how tight Nova is with money.

Woody93 - Did you receive just merit, or financial aid info as well? My son received $4000 Villanova Scholarship, was hoping for more as it doesn’t cover very much. FA info is supposed to be posted today.

momwith4 - $10,000 Villanova Scholarship which will essentially cover room and board. No financial need-based aid yet.

Anyone know if Villanova uses the weighted or the unweighted GPA in their Net Price Calculator? The difference between weighted and unweighted is pretty significant in what they will give you for a needs based grant. I am hoping it’s weighted since it says 4.0 and better - on an unweighted scale there wouldn’t be a better, correct? Called FA office, the financial aid info won’t be available until after 5 and at this point we’re trying to gear ourselves up for the worst case scenario and if it turns out to be better we’ll be pleasantly surprised. Better than hoping for the best and then getting punched in the gut because it isn’t affordable. Anyone else waiting nervously? This is DS first choice by a long shot so hoping it works out for him, today is make or break day and just anxiously awaiting the news either way.

Nice, much more reasonable than $4000!

We are now able to view our son’s FA awards online and the amount is fairly reasonable. We will now wait to see what BC offers before making a final decision.

Thanks, had to go to the Next Steps tab to see the Financial Award. I am under-impressed!

Not great aid for me either. I’m bummed. I’m probably not going here now. It costs significantly more than my other 2 options.

when do they tell us about merit aid? I only got financial aid and said I still had to pay 36,000 out of my parent’s pocket…that is absolutely undoable :/

^^^^ My sense is merit and financial aid were disclosed concurrently. We received merit but no need based aid and it was all set out in our financial aid award.

merti aid = villanova grant?

Yes, merit scholarship was received but no need based aid - which is what was expected.
