Financial aid for grad school

When applying for financial aid for grad school, is the student an individual or does the student have to report parents’ income? For undergrad I’ve done the FAFSA every year. I’m hoping that is OVER!

You are an individual and do not have to report your parents’ income.

you still have to file fafsa for grad student loans, but its the simple form as parent’s info not required.

Are you guys sure that is true if the student is still claimed as a dependent?

My middle son is in a one-year engineering masters program at Georgia Tech. He filled out the FAFSA last year (2019) for financial aid and did not have to report our income, even though we claimed him as a dependent.

From the Federal Student Aid web site: “Graduate and professional students are considered independent students for FAFSA® purposes, so when you fill out your FAFSA form to apply for grad school aid, you won’t need to provide parent information.”
