I’ve read in their website that international student applying for financial aid will not be considered factor in admission process. Is this completely true? So applying for financial aid as an international student will not hurt my chance?
bump
If the school is need aware, then yes. It says Georgetown is Need blind. According to the link you posted, needing financial aid is not considered in their admissions decision for International applicants. Not sure how much more clarification you need.
haha, thanks for the response. I was just surprise to find out Georgetown university provided need blind financial aid!
But according to the link, they will not meet 100% need and Aid is not guaranteed for Internationals.
That’s ok. The fact that I can apply for financial aid and not worry about admission chance is good enough for me:)
@Gumbymom For international students, Georgetown practices “admit-deny”. You can (and if your need is great, probably will) be gapped. So don’t expect to have your full need met.
@exlibris97 Not sure where you got that information, but Georgetown’s policy is to NOT gap financial aid packages for anyone, including international students.
@dehcollege2017 I based that on a visit to Georgetown. And unsubsidized and parental loans are not financial aid!
From what I have heard from other accepted students this year, their financial aid packages (even as domestic students) do not meet their full need (hence the stereotype of georgetown doing admit-deny).
@yonceonhismouth The issue seems to be how Georgetown determines demonstrated need. This problem isn’t limited to Georgetown. In fairness, Georgetown is much better than it was in the past, but I, too, have spoken to students who were for all intents and purposes “gapped”.
