Hi! I am an international student who will be applying this fall to University of Massachusetts - Amherst for the fall of 2014. I would like to know if the university gives any financial aid for international students.

I think a call or email to the office would do. As a heads up, it may be helpful to know that most students here are within driving distance. The international community is small compared to the nearby LACs. The school provides housing for internationals and non-English speakers to make up for that fact, though.

@Slamherst thank you for the info. I will be applying for engineering, how good is the engineering program in University of Massachusetts-Amherst?

Keep in mind, UMass views OOS (and internationals, for that matter) as cash cows. They are increasing the non-resident population to 30% to bring in more revenue.

I don’t know about its reputation within academic or corporate circles, but I do know that the program is rigorous and provides almost no breathing room in terms of electives. It may be tough to study engineering as a transfer. Do consider talking to the department before applying.
