I'm an international who is considering applying to Cornell as a transfer student. However, I'll need some financial aid to supplement my family's contribution to the cost of my education, and Cornell states that it has limited financial aid for international transfer students. Should I apply anyway and hope that, on the very slight chance that I'm accepted, I'll be awarded at least 7000 dollars? Common sense tells me not to bother, but on the other hand, an unrealistic sense of optimism urges me to apply. xD I'd really appreciate your opinions. Thank you. :)

It turns out my parents can’t afford as much as I originally thought they could. I’ll need at least 25000 dollars per year in aid to attend Cornell. Should I apply even so? Do international transfer applicants receive this much aid? I was accepted last year as a freshman, but wasn’t awarded a single dollar. The fact that I applied late may have had something to do with it. Should I bother again? Cornell is such a great university that I like to believe I’ll somehow get the aid that I need. Frankly, though, I don’t want to waste my time like I did last year.

You’re very unlikely to get any significant amount of aid as a transfer to any U.S. college.

there are only really 30-40 awards each year. i’m also an international student, so i applied with the expectancy that even if i was to be accepted, that i would probably not be able to go due to lack of funds. but even so, i was lucky enough to receive aid. i think you should apply if this is really want you want!

greenteapalace, really? So lucky! How much aid did you receive? Did you apply for freshman admission or transfer admission?

hi, sorry for the late reply, i applied for freshmen admission
you can pm me for more specifics
