Do all international students receive it? If yes do they receive 100% financial need? Thank you for your answer

anyone? please?

i also need to know... how will Cornell send the admissions package to us? When will we probably need it?

If you applied for financial aid and have been admitted you will recieve financial aid. If you didn't apply for financial aid and now want it, you'll have a hell of a time getting it. If you applied, you'll recieve what Cornell believe to be 100% of your need, typically made up of 10% loan, 80% grant, 20% student job.

They posted international stuff a few days ago, should be on its way to you soon.

nick04, are you sure that they're giving all acceptees need-based aid? The UG Admissions FAQ section says:

Yes, a small number of aid awards are issued to international students every year. These may be partial or full scholarships based on the financial need of the students and their families.
...
International financial aid decisions are determined after admissions decisions are made. *Criteria include academic excellence, geographic diversity, and potential for campus participation and/or leadership.

Now, * suggests that Cornell will meet my need. But **? Do you think this criteria are the ones for admission or for aid? Because if they're for aid, this policy does not look that much need-blind :)

canada= intl or not?

cornell isn't need blind for intels

My last words two posts earlier should have been "need-based." Sorry.

I know its not need blind. i heard that other ivies if they accept int'ls they give them financial aid in 100% need. that will suck if I wont get aid :( I cant even take a loan :(

Cornell does not meet 100% need for internationals, in fact, only a few portion of them each year get any aid at all. And if you do get aid, it will be most likely all in the form of grants (free money that is). Internationals (other than from Mexico and Canada I believe) are usually not qualified for any loan or work study or anything like that

hmmm why NYU then gives an option of a loan for internationals?

Really? Because usually only permanet residents have the option to take loans. Afterall you are taking loans from a bank in America and if you are not a PR, then they have no reason to assume that you have the ability to pay back.

erm nick 80 + 20 + 10 = 110 not 100 :D

sorry couldnt help myself!

CNCL is right: not all aceptees who applied for aid will get it ESPECIALLY not internationals. According to a friend of mine who is an international and applied for aid last year, cornell only gave aid to 6 internationals. He was placed on a waiting list for aid (in case some of the internationals didn't come) but he was never taken off the list. Fortunately he was able to find a donor to finance his education.

I have been placed on that list now. I've failed to find a donor or anything to help myself out, so I'll be waiting.

I applied to the College of Engineering and come from Bulgaria.

Anyone else on the same international fin. aid waiting list? Are you accepting?

I still haven't received my financial aid package. I'm Canadian. Anyone with the same situation?

notetote-im on the same boat, but i was actually missing some documents so i don't expect it until the end of this week or so. cuz they said it would take about a week to review everything after receiving my stuff...so hopefully i would have it by the end of this week!

Sadly, Cornell's not need-blind for internationals. One of my friends (she is from Korea) got in RD to Engineering. 2 days later, she got a Financial Aids letter that said each year only 12 international students receive aids and that she is not qualified for that. She is very upset because her parents are willing to pay only upto $30,000.

I also got in to Cornell and they offered me nothing. My parents won't pay more than 20 000 and there goes cornell...

Same problem.....no aid.
